DominicanToday-Staff

The governments of the Dominican Republic and Mexico on Tuesday agreed to hand over in extradition those individuals wanted by the authorities, after the start of a criminal proceeding or if they are sought by law enforcement for a penalty which carries incarceration.

Dominican Justice minister Francisco Dominguez and Mexico’s Jesus Murillo signed the agreement in the Mexico, representing their governments.

The agreement’s 23 articles provide that a request for extradition would admissible if it relates to criminal behavior penalized in accordance with the laws of both parties, which calls for incarceration for not less than one year.
