27/07/2013 | Peru and Brazil sign scientific cooperation agreement

The Foreign Ministers of Peru and Brazil have signed met on Wednesday to discuss matters on the bilateral agenda, and after the meeting the ministers signed two important agreements to strengthen scientific cooperation, the Andina news agency reports.

 

On the of the two pacts pertains to the implementation of a project to improve the management and sustainable exploitation of forest specie inhabiting the basins of Yavari and Purus rivers.

Eda Rivas of Peru and her counterpart Antonio Patriota, also signed a deal to increase the capacity for the management and recovery of Amazonian and Andean lands.

Minister Rivas told Andina that she expects trade between Peru and Brazil to grow significantly. In 2012 trade between the two South American countries reached $3.7 billion.

According to the CIA World Factbook, Peru and Brazil share an 1,800 mile border.
