Wen Pledges to Cool China Property Prices, Resist Yuan Pressure
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said the government will cool property prices, resist pressure for the yuan to appreciate and keep inflation at “reasonable” levels.“Property prices have risen too quickly in some areas and we should use taxes and loan interest rates to stabilize” them, Wen said yesterday in an online interview with the official Xinhua News Agency. China will “absolutely not yield” to calls for currency gains, he said.

Argentine Inflation Accelerates In July On Tourism
Argentina's inflation rate accelerated in July as the winter holiday season in the Southern Hemisphere pushed up prices related to tourism. Inflation accelerated in July to 0.6 percent from 0.5 percent in June, the National Statistics Institute reported today in Buenos Aires. Annual inflation slowed to 10.6 percent from 11 percent in the 12 months through July, according to the statement. The monthly rate was slower than the 0.9 percent median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of 10 economists.
